This eye-catching grassy hill is more appealing when you pass the Leyte-Lemon-Tacloban national highway. The hill is situated within the boundary between barangay Belen, barangay Limon and barangay Cabul-an The place is a wonderful destination with 360° breathtaking views and landscapes. Here, you’ll get a chance to see the Carigara Bay, the Biliran island, nearby towns, the winding Leyte river, and the imposing Amandiwing mountain range. To reach the site, Look for a local guide in sitio Marag-ing and hike uphill for about 30 minutes. Let’s go to Sampaw Hills of Leyte, Leyte. Just 2 kilometers away from the central town of Leyte. This 318 feet tall, breathtaking grassy landscape creates a scenic backdrop of the town. A perfect natural viewing deck to gaze out the Mt. Canjamampaay in the east and the Leyte Bay in the east. If you are from Biliran island and you pass through the bridge that connects Biliran and Leyte, you will see this beautiful and tall mountain, The Mount Baonao. From PHIVOLCS site, Mount Baonao is an inactive volcano with a height of 485 meters above sea level and is located at the northern tip of Leyte, Leyte. At its peak you can see the towering mountains of Biliran island, the Biliran strait, the Leyte Bay, Mount Canjamampaay, and the neighboring areas of the municipality of Leyte. Its distance from Biliran Bridge is roughly two kilometers, and it will take you an hour or more to go uphill. You will pass beneath lush trees as you begin the ascent. Along the trail, you may find a plantation of pineapples, jackfruits, and mangoes. And midway, grasses that are almost waist high occupies the rest of the slope. I've wanted to climb Mt. Apo, the tallest mountain in the Philippines, ever since I first started mountain climbing in 2009. And I am lucky to meet people who I later became friends with because we had the same passion for the thrill of mountain climbing. It was only in 2021 that they planned to go to Mt. Apo and I thanked them for the invitation for me to live out a lifelong dream. DAY 0. Since we are from Leyte island, and the nearest airport with a flight to Davao City is in Cebu, we decided to just take a land trip to Davao City which we believed it would be a relaxing trip. Coming from Ormoc, we boarded a bus with a route from Ormoc City down to Lilo-an in Southern Leyte, crossed the sea on a RORO vessel, landed at Surigao port, and continued traveling south to Davao City. But the bus will stop at every town's terminal to pick up passengers and for its crew to eat meals, in total, we traveled for 28 hours to reach the capital of Davao. And that's when we realized that
